NCSUsed is a student-driven thrift store initiative. It's comprised of NC State merchandise that provides spiritwear at an inexpensive price and a convenient location, while promoting sustainable fashion with unique designs.
NCSUsed collects NC State spiritwear donations from NC State alumni and any other interested community members, then resells the merchandise for a low price and wide variety of designs. It is a pop-up shop that appears in significant locations around campus (e.g., the Brickyard, Wolf Plaza, the Oval, etc.) on certain days to give students and community members the opportunity to purchase.
If you have any NC state apparel or merchandise that you no longer use, we are accepting donations! NCSUsed is a great way to give back to the NC State and Raleigh community, and a great way to pay school spirit forward. See further info on the next donation drives below.
As a university of more than 40,000 students within the larger Raleigh community, there are many diverse socioeconomic categories. NCSUsed bridges the gap with spiritwear to provide access to everyone, right here on campus.
A large reason many students and community members don't purchase university-issued spiritwear is the hefty price tag. NCSUsed provides a way to purchase NC State merchandise at an affordable price, without compromising quality.*
The “fast fashion” industry, or the mass production of clothes in response to the latest trends, comes with an affordable price, but at an environmental cost. NCSUsed promotes the health of the environment without sacrificing price.
After soliciting feedback from a wide range of demographics, on a scale of 1 = "Not really" and 5 = "Yes, very much so", most survey participants answered that price is a contributing factor regarding college merchandise purchases.
The entirety of survey participants indicated that they would be interested or potentially interested in purchasing second-hand merchandise.
Hi everyone! My name is Darcy Blottenberger, and I'm a business student and Shelton Scholar here at NC State. In fall of 2022, I gathered input through a survey to determine if NCSUsed was something the community even considered a worthwhile pursuit. With over 100 responses, the consensus was overwhelmingly in favor. Now, NCSUsed is a reality! The first step for any community members looking to pay it forward is to donate at the donation drives. Then, NCSUsed will host pop-up shops, where NC State merchandise can be purchased. This cycle of donation drives and pop-up shops will continue on a rolling basis, so everyone has a chance to showcase their Wolfpack pride!
